Welcome to Lilja Tours. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our services and website. By booking a tour with Lilja Tours ehf., you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully before making a reservation.

Booking Requirements
By making a booking with Lilja Tours, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age or booking under the supervision of a legal guardian
- You have the authority to accept these terms on behalf of all members of your party
- All information provided during booking is accurate and complete
- You accept responsibility for the conduct and safety of all members in your booking
Minors (under 18 years) must be accompanied by an adult throughout the tour. The booking party assumes full responsibility for all participants.
Payment Terms
Private Day Tours
Full payment is required at the time of booking for all private day tours. We accept major credit cards and bank transfers. All prices are quoted in your selected currency but will be charged in Icelandic Króna (ISK) at the prevailing exchange rate.
All quoted prices include VAT (Value Added Tax) as required by Icelandic law.
Multi-Day Tours
For multi-day tour reservations, the following payment schedule applies:
- Deposit: 30% of the total tour price is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. This deposit is non-refundable.
- Final Payment: The remaining 70% of the total tour price is due one month (30 days) before your tour departure date.
Failure to make the final payment by the due date may result in cancellation of your booking, with forfeiture of the deposit.
Cancellation Policy
Private Day Tours
Cancellations must be made via email to info@lilja-tours.com. The following refund policy applies:
- 48+ hours before tour: 100% refund of the total booking price
- 24-48 hours before tour: 50% refund of the total booking price
- Less than 24 hours before tour: No refund
Multi-Day Tours
For multi-day tours, the initial 30% deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances. The remaining 70% final payment is subject to the following refund policy based on the cancellation timing:
- More than 15 days before departure: 100% refund of the final payment (70% of total tour price)
- Between 15 and 8 days before departure: 50% refund of the final payment (35% of total tour price)
- Between 8 and 3 days before departure: 25% refund of the final payment (17.5% of total tour price)
- Less than 3 days before departure: No refund of the final payment
Please note that the 30% non-refundable deposit is never refunded regardless of cancellation timing.
All cancellations must be made in writing via email. The cancellation date is determined by when we receive your email notification.
Tour Modifications and Force Majeure
Iceland's weather and natural conditions can be unpredictable. Lilja Tours reserves the right to modify routes, itineraries, or tour schedules due to:
- Severe weather conditions (storms, heavy snow, ice, etc.)
- Road closures or unsafe driving conditions
- Volcanic activity or natural disasters
- Safety concerns for passengers or guides
- Government restrictions or emergency orders
- Other extraordinary circumstances beyond our control
If a tour must be cancelled due to these circumstances, you will receive a full refund in accordance with EU Package Travel Directive. However, we are not responsible for any additional costs you may have incurred, such as accommodation, flights, or other travel arrangements.
We will always strive to provide alternative arrangements or reschedule tours when possible, but safety remains our top priority.
Amendments to Bookings
If you wish to amend your booking (change dates, number of participants, tour selection, etc.), please contact us via email at least 48 hours before your scheduled tour. Amendment requests are subject to availability.
An amendment fee may be charged depending on the nature of the change. Amendments requested within 24 hours of tour departure are typically not possible and may be treated as a cancellation with associated cancellation fees.
For multi-day tours, amendment policies may vary depending on the complexity of the itinerary and services already confirmed with third parties. Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss potential changes.
Participant Responsibilities
All tour participants are expected to:
- Arrive at the designated pickup location on time
- Follow guide instructions and safety recommendations at all times
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear as advised for Icelandic conditions
- Inform us in advance of any medical conditions, dietary requirements, or mobility limitations
- Behave respectfully toward guides, other participants, and Iceland's natural environment
- Not engage in activities that could endanger themselves, others, or the environment
Lilja Tours reserves the right to refuse service or remove participants from tours if their behavior is deemed inappropriate, dangerous, or disruptive. No refund will be provided in such cases.
Complaints and Feedback
If you experience any issues during your tour, please inform your guide immediately so we can address the situation promptly. If you wish to file a formal complaint, please email us at info@lilja-tours.com within 8 days of tour completion.
All complaints will be acknowledged within 48 hours, and we will provide a detailed response within 14 days of receiving your complaint. We take all feedback seriously and use it to continually improve our services.
Liability and Insurance
Lilja Tours maintains comprehensive business liability insurance and ensures all vehicles meet Icelandic safety standards. However, we cannot be held responsible for:
- Personal injury or property loss due to participant negligence or failure to follow safety instructions
- Loss or damage to personal belongings during tours
- Delays, cancellations, or modifications due to weather, road conditions, or force majeure events
- Circumstances beyond our reasonable control
- Costs incurred due to missed connections, accommodations, or other travel arrangements
Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that all participants purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical emergencies, evacuation, and personal belongings. Travel insurance is not included in our tour prices.
By booking with Lilja Tours, you acknowledge that adventure travel involves inherent risks, and you accept responsibility for your participation.
Privacy and Data Protection
Lilja Tours is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with GDPR and Icelandic data protection laws. Personal data collected during booking is used solely for tour organization, communication, and service improvement.

Intellectual Property
All content on the Lilja Tours website, including text, photographs, logos, graphics, and videos, is the intellectual property of Lilja Tours ehf. or used with permission. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of this content is prohibited.
Participants may take photographs during tours for personal use. However, any commercial use of photographs featuring Lilja Tours guides, vehicles, or branding requires prior written consent.
Changes to Terms and Conditions
Lilja Tours reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
For bookings made before any changes, the Terms and Conditions in effect at the time of booking will apply.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Iceland. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Icelandic courts.
